Neck pain can quietly take over your day. Turning your head to check traffic hurts. Sitting too long becomes uncomfortable. Even sleep can suffer. If this sounds familiar, seeing a chiropractor for neck pain can help address the cause and start moving you toward real relief.

The cervical spine is one of the most active and vulnerable parts of the body. It supports the full weight of your head, allows a wide range of motion in every direction, and houses the nerve roots that supply the arms, shoulders, and upper back. When something goes wrong in the neck, the effects can reach far beyond just the neck itself.
A lot of people treat neck pain as a minor inconvenience and wait for it to go away. Sometimes it does. But recurring or persistent neck pain almost always has a structural cause that is not going to resolve on its own. The longer it goes without proper care, the more the surrounding muscles and joints compensate, and the harder the problem becomes to fully correct.
Neck pain can show up in a lot of different ways. Some of the most common signs we see at Caruso Family Chiropractic include:
• Stiffness or tightness that limits how far you can turn your head
• A dull, constant ache in the neck or base of the skull
• Sharp pain with certain movements or positions
• Headaches that start at the back of the neck and radiate forward
• Pain, tingling, or numbness that travels into the shoulder or arm
• Muscle knots or tenderness along the sides of the neck
• Neck pain that gets worse after sitting at a desk or looking at a screen
If you have any tingling or numbness going into your arms or hands, that is a sign the nerves may be involved and it is worth getting evaluated sooner rather than later.
Neck pain rarely comes from one single thing. Most of the time it is a combination of structural issues, habits, and accumulated strain. The most common causes we treat include:
• Cervical misalignment. When the vertebrae in the neck are out of their proper position, they put pressure on surrounding nerves and joints and create tension in the muscles that try to compensate.
• Herniated or bulging discs. Discs in the cervical spine can shift and press on nearby nerve roots, causing pain that can radiate into the shoulder, arm, or hand.
• Muscle tension and trigger points. Chronic tightness in the neck and upper trapezius muscles, often from stress, posture, or repetitive movement, is one of the most common sources of daily neck pain.
• Tech neck. The forward head posture that comes from looking down at phones and screens for hours adds significant stress to the cervical spine over time.
• Degenerative disc disease. Natural wear of the cervical discs with age, which can cause stiffness, reduced range of motion, and chronic aching.
• Whiplash or old injury. A past accident or injury that was never fully treated often leaves residual tension and misalignment that flares up years later.
Your first appointment starts with a conversation. Dr. Caruso wants to understand your full history, not just where it hurts but how long it has been going on, what makes it worse, and how it is affecting your daily life. From there he performs a hands-on physical and orthopedic exam focused on the cervical spine, posture, and nerve function.
If X-rays or imaging would help clarify the picture, he will let you know. You leave your first visit with a clear explanation of what is going on, a specific treatment plan, and no surprises about what it will cost. We also check your insurance coverage upfront so everything is sorted before you commit to anything.

Caruso Family Chiropractic is here to help you understand your pain, ease your stress and improve your movement. Our approach is simple, clear and focused on your long-term comfort.
