From Chronic Pain Patient to Chiropractor

Dr. Caruso knows what it's like to live with chronic pain because he has been there himself. In 1980, a severe case of sciatica took over his life for more than a year. Desperate for relief, he finally went to see a chiropractor in San Diego. After just 20 treatments, his pain was completely gone.

That experience changed his life. It inspired him to become a chiropractor so he could help other people find the same relief he found, and it's a big reason he understands what his patients are going through when they first come in.

Born in Brooklyn, Raised in San Diego

Dr. Caruso is proud to say he was born in Brooklyn, which not many people around here can say. He moved to San Diego when he was three years old, so he considers himself practically a native. He grew up in University City, just north of Clairemont, and attended Stella Maris Academy in La Jolla, University High School, and Clairemont High School.

He took his undergraduate classes at San Diego Mesa College and Mission College in Santa Clara, then earned his chiropractic degree from Life Chiropractic College West in San Leandro as part of the class of 1997. That same year, he opened his first practice in Hawaii.

Life Outside the Office

When he isn't at the clinic, you'll usually find Dr. Caruso outdoors. He takes his border collie lab mix on canyon walks and walks along the beach, and he spends a fair share of his free time surfing, bike riding, and free diving.
